We value your privacy — and we really mean that when we say it. That’s why we explicitly collect as little information as we possibly can about anyone who visits this website.
The short version:
Visitor Tracking
The only way we collect metrics on this website is through Fathom analytics. From their data policy:
- Fathom truly anonymizes visitors through complex hashes, making it possible to track unique visits in the most privacy-focused manor.
- Fathom does not use cookies to store anything, so cookie notices on your website are not required if you use our software.
- Fathom is fully GDPR and E-Privacy (including PECR) complaint and will continue to comply with any rule, law or regulation that protects consumer privacy online.
Basically: we don’t care what you had for breakfast, what you’re shopping for on Amazon, or what pages you like on Facebook. What we do care about is which pages on our website are performing well and which ones aren’t. We view that by sticking to basic analytics without attaching anyone’s identity.
Also, from time to time we may count our total social media followers. This number helps us attract sponsors, who help us help you by contributing to TypeWknd's budget. We never provide anyone -- including sponsors -- lists of our followers, and we don't share your social media handles with anyone either.
Newsletter
If you choose to sign up for our newsletter, we will only collect your email address. Otherwise you’d have no hope of ever receiving it. We use MailChimp to send you messages and do our best to keep it up to date with the best privacy standards they can provide including GDPR compliance for everyone.
Social Sharing
You may see social media sharing buttons on some pages of our website. These are plain links that direct you to the relevant social media sharing platform. We do not include or embed any of their script-ridden sharing buttons that track you. We can’t guarantee that the plain links we do provide do not, but it's the best solution we know about at this time.
Conference Registration
When you register for our conference, you will be asked to provide a few identifying details about yourself including your name as well as contact information, including your email address. If you register for a workshop, you may be asked to provide payment information to process your registration.
You may be identified at conference events with the name that you provide to us, but we will never share your contact information or other private details without talking to you, in writing, first.
Last but not least, if you're the kind of person who enjoys long walks on the beach with a multi-page EULA, we've posted the longer legal version of our privacy policy below.
