Helene is a young type designer from Vienna studying Typography and Type Design at the UMPRUM academy of arts architecture and design in Prague.
She likes to cycle, drink good coffee and eat spicy food. Besides all that she is continually looking for inspirational ideas for new type design projects and is keen to learn new things and gain new skills, quite often by trial and error.
One of her current projects, „Leonore“ has recently received a special merit from the Gerard Unger Scholarship. Helene is among other things involved in feminist issues, in particular in understanding the legacy of female type design in its role in the field today. She is focusing on finding female role models in type, learn about their lives, their œuvre, what influences they had and loves to let herself get inspired by these impressive personalities.
